I was angry and at the same time, horrified when I read the Evening Standard about the opening of another Mr Oliver’s restaurants. Well, I am certain that a large portion of his cookery books will have some vegetarian or vegan recipes. Overall, all the dishes advertising on the telly or posters on the big boards are a large joint of meat. Where was the vegetarianism coming from? Surely, a plate of spaghetti with pesto sauce makes a good option for vegetarians. Not much flash or attention grabbing factors and not much promotional values there. But a good meal is a good meal, it doesn’t have to be attractive. Why would big cooperation think that a sexy woman’s voice will induce appetites? Maybe for some people, they are in favour of waitresses in skimpy dresses dishing out the food. But I am only a simple human who want to lessen the feeling of hunger, not to fulfil my fantasies on a dinner table! The oozing pink juices coming out from a thick slab of meat no longer interested me and it makes me wonder why this surprises most people.
We have evolved to move on from our primitive states. We moved forward because there was a change in the environment and like all other lives around us. We are therefore built to adapt. A bit of a science buff but environmentalism is what we should pride on. I truly honour those who agreed and believe in vegetarianism. Even I can never be a 100% hardcore fan, I am glad to pull off any meat for as long as I can.
